The video is one of the series of the TV programme “Eureka”, which was projected by the educational Greek television in 1981. Its purpose is to describe the phenomenon of buoyancy that had been discovered by the ancient Greek Mathematician, Archimedes. The video, which comes from the Canadian television TVO, is translated in Greek. It explains why a metal material, like an anchor, is drown due to the fact that its density is higher than the water’s, and, as a result, the gravitational pull is greater than the force of the water that pushes it upwards. On the other hand, a cork floats due to its lower density, whereas a plastic material would be in the middle of the water without drowning because its density is equal to the water’s. This physical law is known as “Buoyancy”.
