The most beautiful actress of '40 should be remembered not only for her 6 husbands, but also to be the inventor of principles used in nowadays wireless links.
Her most significant technological contribution was her co-patent, together with composer George Antheil, of an early principle technique for spread spectrum communications and frequency hopping. This paved the way for today’s wireless communications and which, upon its invention in 1941, was deemed so vital to national defense that government officials would not allow publication of its details: they were disclosed only in 1985 (revealing her name as one of inventors).
